About Me - Joe Coker
- 46 years old
- Texan, born and raised.
- I came to saving faith in 1989
- I worked and served in Singles Ministry for almost decade.
- I was a member of a Southern Baptist Church for 14 years, 10 of those years @ FBC-Dallas.
- Produced, Edited, and Co-Hosted a Christian Music Video Show in 90′s.
- Reformed, OPC
Early on in my Christian walk, I was very influenced by Dr. John MacArthur and Dr. W. A. Criswell. I was a long time member of FBC – Dallas. I was blessed enough to be there towards the end of Dr. W. A. Criswell’s ministry. But, left there for good after Mac Brunson decided infect the church with Rick Warren’s 40 Days of Purpose and Purpose Driven Life.
Through the years, I have been very involved with Singles Ministry, I served in many positions from serving on Staff to Sunday School Class leadership. In the 90′s, I was also involved with an Outreach Music Ministry where we produced a Music Video Show and produced concerts in Mesquite, the Deep Ellum area, and various churches and venues through out the Dallas Metro Area.
I tell you this let you know where came from prior to my journey to the Reformed Faith, it is by grace of God, I didn’t take the trajectory towards the Missional/Emerging Church.
After leaving FBC – Dallas, I starting searching for a more faithful church [which was the original genesis of this blog]. While I was searching for a new church home, I began reading Reformed authors [old and new]. Once I began understand Reformed & Covenant Theology better, I started attending an OPC church.
About the Blog
What you will find here is a collection of resources and stories I find and post about the Broader Evangelical Church, with the general focus on Emerging/Missional Movements and Seeker/Purpose Driven Movements, with occasional opinion piece from me. In the past the general focus of this blog was on the SBC, when I was a Southern Baptist.
My other blog is Pilgrimage to Geneva is about The Reformed Church which is my primary focus now.
